Purpose and History of MLK Essay Contest

The MLK holiday is an opportunity to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service and be inspired to live out his legacy today in our homes, our communities and our world. The MLK essay contest was initiated by SCSU student, Dexter Stanton, as a way to engage young people in participating in Dr. King’s legacy and to publicly recognize and reward their artistic, writing, speaking, and leadership abilities. St Cloud area students are invited to express their thoughts through essay or artwork to be shared at the 6th Annual MLK Breakfast on 1/21/19 at the River’s Edge Convention Center. Work created will display at the Convention Center in January and February.
