New Ideas for Spring Camporee
We are trying to switch things up a little bit and to create a Spring Camporee your Scouts will talk about for the rest of the year! We have three ideas:
1. Host a traditional, patrol-focused Spring Camporee in Carroll County (with support from local community partners and businesses). The tentative theme is “Are you Tougher Than a Boy Scout?”
2. Host a combination Spring Camporee/Service Weekend at Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation. Ideally:
· Camp program areas (archery, rifle, shotgun, COPE, etc.) would be open and staffed for patrol use
· Council and camp representatives would be on hand to encourage Troops to consider BCMSR for weekend outings and summer camp
· Teams of adults from attendee Troops – with logistical support and planning – would spend Saturday renovating and improving camp. (This is where we tap into the “skilled” labor pool of Troop parents and local businesses.)
· Scouts would spend a portion of the day completing a service project to improve camp – (but the majority of their day would be focused on inter-patrol and inter-troop competition events).
3. Host a recruiting event in Carroll District (like the old “Scouting Expo” at the Timonium Fairgrounds) to encourage Boy Scout recruiting
