You are invited to participate in a research study conducted through the University of California, Santa Barbara. This study will look at the life experiences and cultural transitions of young adults of Iranian/Persian descent living in the United States and Canada. To participate in this study, you must be between the ages of 18 and 25, at least one of your parents must be of Iranian/Persian descent, and you must currently live in the United States or Canada.
You will be asked to fill out an online, anonymous questionnaire as part of this study. Completing this questionnaire will take you about 20 to 30 minutes. Some of the questions will ask about your life experiences related to being of Iranian/Persian descent, while others will ask you more generally about topics, such as, how you cope with events and your current well-being.
The risks of participating in this study are expected to be minimal. You may experience some discomfort if answering questions about your experiences and feelings makes you tired, sad, or anxious. You will not directly benefit from participation in this study and will not receive compensation for your participation. However, the information collected in this study will be used to help contribute to a better understanding of the lives of Iranian/Persian young adults living in the U.S. or Canada.
Taking part in this study is voluntary. You have the right to refuse to take part in this study. If you choose to take part in the study, you have the right to skip any questions you do not wish to answer and to stop at anytime.
All your responses will be confidential and will not be disclosed. All information collected from this study will be identified by number and stored in a locked facility. We will not ask for your name at any time during the study.
