3.Welcome to our Survey
Who are we?
We are Minority Ethnic collective advocacy group at CAPS independent Advocacy. We are a collective advocacy group based in Edinburgh and centred on minority ethnic experiences of mental health. In our advocacy group, people with shared identities, experiences and challenges come together to have a stronger voice and take action.
Why are we doing this survey?
GP services are a key way for people from all backgrounds to get treatment and support. The way we experience these services can affect how likely we are to seek help in the future, and the kind of care we receive. We are looking to collate some of the experiences that people from minority ethnic backgrounds have had with their GPs and produce some recommendations for improving these experiences.
How are we using the information collected?
We are developing a workshop to be delivered to primary care providers. Your responses will help us understand what experiences people have had, whether positive or negative. What barriers present for people from minority ethnic backgrounds in seeking support and treatment, and what can improve the quality of people’s experiences at their primary care providers and other health services. We will produce a list of recommendations and deliver it as part of our lived experience workshops. We hope this will influence provision of services and urge decision-makers to take people's needs into account.
