2018 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Overview

The County of Midland, which comprises of all local cities, townships and the Village who have adopted this Hazard Mitigation Plan acknowledge the need to make Midland County communities resilient and sustainable. It is essential to reduce community vulnerability from natural and technological hazards to the extent possible. The development and implementation of this plan is a whole community effort with the goal of ensuring Midland County continues to be a vibrant, safe and enjoyable place.

FEMA requires Hazard Mitigation Plans to be reviewed and updated every five years. Having an approved plan that is less than five years old allows for local units of government to be eligible for mitigation funds; pre and post disaster.

The Midland County Emergency Management Office along with the Hazard Mitigation Committee and all local units of government are currently reviewing and updating the 2013 Hazard Mitigation Plan. Part of the update process is outreach to residents, businesses and other organizations within the community and in surrounding communities to provide an opportunity for review and comment on the current plan to assist in the update of and draft of the new plan.

To assist your local government in this process, please take five minutes to participate in this quick survey.
