October 16, 2026
The Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin has declared October 16, 2026 as Menominee Language and Culture Day. This is our community's opportunity to celebrate all of the amazing language work that is taking place throughout the reservation. On the afternoon of October 16, departments and local non-profits will be encouraged to host a language event at their facility from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Ideas include Menominee bingo, scavenger hunts, vocabulary posters, card games, art activities, crafting activities, recipe samples, and other ways you are promoting Menominee language and culture.
As part of a collaborative effort, the Menominee Language and Culture Commission, MenominiyoU, and College of Menominee Nation's Sustainable Development Institute are offering a total of ten (10) $1,000 language support funds to Tribal entities and local 501c3's that want to host an event and need a little extra help to do so. These funds are intended to support language activities at your site on the afternoon of October 16, 2026. Funds are available on a first-come basis, so be sure to complete this form in its entirety as soon as you can!
