The Darryl Semple Building Surveyor of the Year will be awarded to the nominee whom the selection panel believe (following verification of the details submitted) best satisfies the eligibility and selection criteria stated below.
This award is the AIBS TAS Chapter highest individual building surveyor honour. The Award is made in recognition of the most distinguished services by an individual building surveyor.

Nominees must be a member of the TAS Chapter of the AIBS and:
- Have been a member of AIBS for more than 5 years;
- Be a financial member of the AIBS at the date of nomination and upon receipt of the award;
- Not have been the subject of disciplinary action resulting from a complaint made under the AIBS Accreditation Code of Professional Conduct or Membership Code of Professional Conduct.
Selection criteria
The nominating person must provide a written statement (maximum 500 words) and supporting examples/evidence if appropriate demonstrating how the nominee has:
In the course of performing their duties of employment, exemplifies and/or exceeds the standard of professional conduct required by the AIBS Accreditation Code of Professional Conduct and the AIBS Code of Professional Conduct.

- During the course of their employment and through involvement in professional activities outside their place of employment, regularly promotes the building surveying profession, its role and importance to the community.
- Through their involvement in, or development of building surveying related initiatives, reforms, projects or the like, is a recognised leader in the building surveying profession.
- Demonstrates their commitment to sustaining the building surveying profession through mentoring, educating and/or training students, staff, building surveying and other related professionals.
