The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is searching for candidates to fill open seats on its FamilY Partnerships Network (FPN) Executive Committee, and advisory group to the AAP Board of Directors. This 8-member group oversees the work of the FamilY Partnerships Network, a network of youth and family leaders who actively work on child health-related topics within the AAP and/or at the program/policy level. The FPN works to “develop and implement a strategy to expand the opportunity for parent/family/youth input and participation in AAP activities and programs”, and is designed to provide mentorship, training and ongoing support to family and youth advisors who are involved at the AAP or partnering with health care professionals in change and improvement.​

Ideal candidates for the FPN Executive Committee include: 
  • individuals who represent a diversity of interests and experiences
  • fathers, mothers, youth, guardians or other family members
  • individuals who are actively engaged in children’s health care
  • individuals who have both special or specific interests as well as broad, general interests in the health and health care of children and families
  • individuals whose experience is at local community, state, and/or national levels
  • individuals connected to parent/family/youth networks
  • individuals who believe collaboration with pediatricians and other professionals is essential to quality child health
FPN Executive Committee Members will be expected to:
  • attend two meetings per year (expenses paid for in-person, virtual participation also possible)
  • participate on monthly conference calls
  • mentor other family/youth to participate in AAP activities
  • review and comment on proposed AAP policies and documents
  • actively participate in the work of the AAP, express family/youth viewpoints and issues, identify resources and links to further family/youth resources
  • further the work of the FPN as goals and activities are developed
