Miami Valley Urban League Community Conversations Survey

The 2025 State of Black Dayton report, Resilience and Renewal: Charting the Future for Black Dayton, is being developed by the Miami Valley Urban League. This survey offers an opportunity for those who could not attend the in-person Community Conversations to share their voice. I’m Jason Daniels, President and CEO of JAYRAMON, and the consultant supporting this project.

Your insights are an essential part of shaping the report. Through this survey, we invite you to share your aspirations for the Dayton region (keep all of Montgomery County in mind - individuals, groups, neighborhoods, businesses, industry, schools, etc.), along with your experiences, challenges, and ideas for the future.

It is important that we create a safe and open space for sharing. JAYRAMON will not include direct quotes in summary materials, presentations, or reports. No comments will be attributed to you or any individual, and we will not use names or identifying information. If you choose to provide your name and contact information to stay connected to this project, please know it will only be used for follow-up and will not appear in any reporting.

Education – This category includes efforts to strengthen learning opportunities and outcomes across early childhood, K–12, higher education, and community-based learning.

Income Gap – This category looks at workforce development, employment trends, wages, financial services, and the challenges households face in achieving financial stability.

Health – This category covers efforts to improve community well-being, including physical, mental, and behavioral health, public health initiatives, healthcare systems, and promoting healthier living.

Housing – This category focuses on housing availability, affordability, quality, and related issues such as homelessness, mobility, housing support, advocacy, and community development.

Criminal Justice Reform – This category addresses safety, fairness, and justice, including perspectives from the justice system, reentry services, restorative practices, and community-based initiatives.

Digital Economy – This category explores how technology shapes opportunity, work, connectivity, and access to resources through areas like broadband, infrastructure, education, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Faith-Based Community – This category includes diverse faith traditions and institutions—such as churches, synagogues, mosques, and other spiritual organizations—that support communities through outreach, education, spiritual teachings, services, interfaith collaborations, and faith-based philanthropy.

Entrepreneurship and Small Business – This category focuses on supporting business growth by engaging small business owners, entrepreneurs, and those who provide services such as training, education, advisory support, or access to capital and resources.
