Currently we are looking at the role of LETTERS in Medical Teacher. We receive more letters for publication than can be accommodated in the journal and normally publish about eight in any one issue. There is also a delay before a letter appears in an issue of the journal. Consideration is being given as to whether we should discontinue the publication of letters in the journal and make use of the space for other features. Instead we would publish the letters electronically on a separate Medical Teacher or MedEdWorld site. This would mean that we would not have to limit the number of letters published, could ensure more rapid publication and encourage communications about journal features and other matters of topical interest in education in the healthcare professions. We would value your thoughts on this. Please complete the Survey by 30th August and we will present the results at a meeting of the Medical Teacher Board during the Glasgow Conference.
