Introduction

The Oregon Brownfields Coalition is a non-governmental discussion and decision-making forum open to all. It comprises a fluid and diverse array of members who share the common denominator of wanting to redevelop and improve more abandoned or under-used properties. The Coalition works on statewide and local policies, and programmatic efforts such as targeted assessment, clean up and redevelopment projects.

As the Coalition develops future legislative and program priorities we want to reach out to stakeholders statewide to gather and reflect your input on the obstacles and opportunities for brownfield redevelopment. We have developed this survey to gather perspectives and priorities from Oregon stakeholders interested in brownfield redevelopment.

The survey has seven questions and should take no more than 10 minutes.

Question Title

* 1. How involved and/or knowledgeable are you about brownfield redevelopment? Please rate on a scale from 1 (no previous experience) to 7 (work in the field).

Question Title

* 2. In what professional capacity are you connected to the brownfield issue in Oregon? Please select al that apply.

Question Title

* 3. What aspects of the brownfield issue do you believe are of greatest concern to communities in the State of Oregon? Please choose up to two.

Question Title

* 4. In your view, which of the following present the most significant challenges to identifying, investigating, cleaning up, or re-using brownfield properties in Oregon? Please choose your top two answers.

Question Title

* 5. Two new tools for addressing brownfields cleanup were recently created by the State of Oregon. Would it be useful to you to learn more about how these could work?

As a reminder, your responses can remain anonymous, so there will be no way for the Coalition to personally identify your responses. Your response is important for the Coalition to get a broad and representative picture of key obstacles to addressing brownfields here in Oregon, and will help us hone in on the most appropriate problem-solving efforts.

Question Title

* 6. Earlier this year, DEQ’s Cleanup and LUST programs issued its fourth annual survey on program performance. As in past years, it incorporated 18 questions for recent VCP/ICP/LUST participants to grade DEQ’s oversight of their contaminated property’s investigation and cleanup. Compared to past surveys, 2016 responses indicated a moderate decline in satisfaction, in particular with DEQ’s costs, decision-making efficiency, and timeliness. To seek out responsive solutions, DEQ wishes to learn specifics about these concerns from parties who have participated in VCP/ICP or LUST programs.

If you are such a party, please describe any concerns you may have and/or ways that DEQ could provide better service to VCP/ICP or LUST program participants.

Question Title

* 7. The Coalition sends periodic emails to interested parties to provide updates on the Coalition activities and statewide brownfield efforts. Sign up here if you want to be added to the email list for notifications.
