The SMFM 2027 Pregnancy Meeting™ will be held from March 21 - 26 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center (National Harbor, MD).

The mission of the society is to provide education and promote research that optimizes the health of high-risk pregnant individuals and their infants. The meeting is a centerpiece of the work of the Society, featuring postgraduate courses and workshops, roundtables and expert sessions, scientific forums, and poster presentations. The SMFM 2027 Pregnancy Meeting™ is the premier event for presenting and learning about cutting-edge science in obstetrics and provides participants the opportunity to connect with leaders and colleagues in maternal-fetal medicine.

By completing this form, you acknowledge that the Program Committee may suggest modifications to all portions of your proposal, including the proposed faculty in order to adhere to the Society's Commitment to Diversity Policy and ACCME's Standards of Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education.

All proposals must be received by Monday, August 10, 2026.
Submitters will be notified of the status of their submission on Friday, September 11, 2026.

2027 Call for Proposal Options

For the SMFM 2027 Pregnancy Meeting, we are soliciting proposals for the following:

Postgraduate Courses The Postgraduate Course format incorporates 3.5 to 7 hours of didactic, interactive panel discussion, case studies, and hands-on demonstrations. Popular with MFM Fellows in training and faculty alike, topics range from foundational MFM topics such as genetics, ultrasound, critical care, and medical complications to emerging issues such as infectious disease and environmental health. An additional registration fee is required.

>> These offer CME credit, with select courses offering AIUM Ultrasound credit.
Scientific Forums (in select topic areas) Scientific Forums are non-CME programs that allow for the open exchange and discussion of research results and scientific advances on select topics in the field of maternal fetal medicine. Forums are not intended to be mini-postgraduate courses and should not include keynote speakers. In addition, all speakers must present in-person, and at least one (1) Forum Chair should be within five (5) years of Fellowship completion/graduation.

A maximum of 10 Scientific Forums will be included on the 2027 Pregnancy Meeting program.

Due to Forum Chair term limits, the following topics from the SMFM 2026 Pregnancy Meeting are confirmed:
  • Cardio Obstetrics
  • Critical Care
  • Diabetes
  • Genetics
  • Healthcare Disparities and Health Equity
  • Labor and Delivery
  • Maternal-Fetal Surgery
  • Placenta Accreta Spectrum
  • Ultrasound
One remaining Scientific Forum slot is available.

For the 2027 Call for Proposals, the following topics are encouraged:
  • Perinatal Mental Health (identified as a priority topic by the SMFM 2027 Program Committee)
  • Other emerging or high-impact topics.
New Special Interest Groups Special Interest Groups (SIG) are one-hour long, non-CME programs that allow for the open exchange and discussion of research results and scientific advances on select topics in the field of maternal fetal medicine. SIGs are not intended to be mini-postgraduate courses and should not include keynote speakers. In addition, all speakers must present in-person.

Thrive Programming We invite proposals (10- to 20-minutes in length) that explore the many dimensions of success and growth in maternal-fetal medicine — from advancing personal and professional development; to strengthening mental, emotional, and physical well-being; to fostering a culture of resilience, joy, and inclusion in the workplace.

Accepted proposals will be presented as standalone sessions; combined thematically and showcased “TED Talk” style during the portion of the meeting with Scientific Sessions and exhibits; or accessible electronically through the meeting app or website.
