1. Registration Information

Thank you for your interest in Islands of Brilliance Summer Design workshops! We ask that you please review the following criteria to ensure that your son/daughter is an appropriate candidate.

Workshop Model: Workshops are limited to eight students, and held in the creative department at a professional design firm. Each student is matched 1 : 1 with a mentor—volunteers from the professional creative services industry. Workshops are led by an experienced Special Education teacher, with supervisory staff including a Creative Director and additional wrap around support. The learning experience also incorporates the opportunity for breaks including hands-on art activities and quiet down-time if needed.

Our students are expected to:

1. Be able to sit for a minimum of 15 minutes and then return to work after a short break.
2. Be able to follow verbal directions with minimal visual support. (In our workshops, students work side by side with a professional from the creative field. Special Education supervision is provided as support.)
3. Be comfortable using a mouse (including clicking, dragging, etc.).
4. Be able to access information—such as finding images for his/her project—using a browser window.
