Communication is key both before and during negotiations. Knowing your priorities for bargaining, helps the committee and union staff target efforts and results in securing important language and protections you want.

* 6. In 2020, the Michigan Civil Service Commission created new rules that require all union members to annually reauthorize their union membership. This requirement is especially important during bargaining as union membership strengthens our collective position and allows us to fight for better wages, benefits and health care.
