To ensure that all people have the opportunity to live healthy lives, clinical and translational research of disease must be representative of the populations who are affected. Nonprofit and philanthropic funders of such research play an important role in encouraging researchers to conduct rigorous scientific research that can advance health equity.

The Health Research Alliance (HRA) and the Multi-Regional Clinical Trials (MRCT) Center of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard are collaborating to develop a resource with actionable and practical solutions to help funding organizations support translational and clinical research that is generalizable and scientifically rigorous. This survey is being conducted to inform this effort and gather preliminary information about current practices used by organizations that fund clinical and translational research.

Data shared via this survey will be analyzed by HRA staff and shared with the co-chairs of the HRA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Learning Community, and MRCT staff. The responses received from this survey will aid in the formation of a volunteer committee, and data may be used to inform exemplary strategies that are featured in the resources developed. We understand that this may be a sensitive topic for many organizations and we appreciate any willingness to share information. We will not identify individuals or organizations in any publicly shared information, or will request approval prior to publicly sharing any information that would be attributed to a specific organization.
