Host Profile:
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) was founded in 1905 as a voluntary, self-supported non-profit organization to administer the junior and senior high school athletic and activities programs in the state of Washington. The WIAA currently serves approximately 400 member high schools and 400 member middle schools and operates over 120+ High School State Championship events each school year.

Event Profile:
The WIAA State Tennis Championships are the culmination of the high school Tennis season. Member schools are divided into four (4A, 3A, 2A, 1B/2B/1A) classifications for boys and five (4A, 3A, 2A, 1A, 1B/2B) classifications of play for girls.

2024 State Championship Tournament Sizes (2025-28 will have similar tournaments): 

4A Boys Singles & Doubles: 16 Individuals and 16 Doubles Teams – 48 total athletes
4A Girls Singles & Doubles: 16 Individuals and 16 Doubles Teams – 48 total athletes
3A Boys Singles & Doubles: 20 Individuals and 20 Doubles Teams – 60 total athletes
3A Girls Singles & Doubles: 20 Individuals and 20 Doubles Teams – 60 total athletes
2A Boys Singles & Doubles: 16 Individuals and 16 Doubles Teams – 48 total athletes
2A Girls Singles & Doubles: 16 Individuals and 16 Doubles Teams – 48 total athletes

Attendee Profile:
  • High school tennis officials from across the state
  • Families and classmates of the participating student-athletes
  • WIAA Staff, Event Staff, Sponsors and Vendors
Facility Requirements:
  • A minimum of six (6) and preferably up to 12 courts are needed to host 1 classification (boys and girls).
  • Restrooms.
  • Scoreboard / Sound System.
  • Internet Access (open for streaming, live scoring, and social media.)
  • Private meeting area for up to 2 officials.
  • Sufficient Parking for spectators and participants including school busses.
  • Emergency Action Plan.
  • Space for vendor/sponsor displays/booths.
Preferred Facility Requirements:
  • Ice / water on site for sports medicine.
  • Concessions for spectators or allowance for outside vendors.
Host Responsibilities:
  • On-site Event Manager
  • Facility maintenance, set-up and management
  • Custodial/clean up.
  • Placement of WIAA signage.
Hotel Requirements:
The host city must have access to safe, reasonably priced hotel rooms for schools that must travel. Each school will have 1-6 team members, 1-2 coaches. In addition, there may been the need for up to 5-10 hotel rooms for up to three (3) nights for officials, event staff or WIAA executive board members.

Community Involvement:
Seeking community involvement is encouraged to enhance the event for participants and spectators alike. Hosts that can provide meals, gifts and courtesy relationships are preferred. The WIAA reserves the right to determine any promotion of such involvement and to review the details of any agreements.

  • 4A Boys and Girls: Kamiakin HS and The Pacific Clinic
  • 3A Boys and Girls: Vancouver Tennis Center
  • 2A Boys and Girls: Nordstrom Tennis Center, University of Washington
  • 1B/2B/1A Boys and 1B/2B, 1A Girls: Yakima Tennis Club
Attendance: Averages between 50-200 people.

Financial Agreement:
It shall be the decision of the bidding organization as to the amount of the financial aspect / agreement in the bid, and if so, what that amount shall be. Any costs to the WIAA must be outlined in the proposal. The host can retain all parking and concessions, provided that complimentary parking is provided for WIAA staff and officials, as well as team busses. If charging for parking, the rate must be included in this bid for review.
