AskCHIS Workshop Registration: Sept 17th 2010: Data Access Training for the California Health Interview Survey.
Staff of agencies and community based organizations are invited to participate in a computer-based, hands-on, interactive workshop. Learn how to access public health data online from the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) on several important health topics that impact specific population as well as surrounding areas.
The one day workshops will take place on September 17th from 9:30 AM to 3:00PM. The workshop is offered in two sessions:
-AM Session: The morning session is from 9:30 AM to 11:30PM and is designed for individuals with little to no experience working with or analyzing data. This workshop provides an introduction to data, data types, evaluating data sources and developing and answering data questions. The workshop concludes with an introduction to AskCHIS and practice using the database.
-PM Session: The afternoon session is from 12:30PM to 3:00PM and can be taken in conjuntion with the morning workshop or as a stand-alone for more experienced data users. The afternoon workshop povides an in-depth overview of AskCHIS and its advanced features, how to produce and interpret two-way tables and downloading and manipulating CHIS data using Excel.
It is recommended that beginning data users take both the AM and PM workshops while individuals with more data experience should opt for the PM session only.
Free parking is provided. Meals are not provided however, dining options are available near the training site.
Space is limited and registration is first come, first served...so RSVP soon! To register, submit and complete the online registration form one week prior to the training date. A few days after registering, you will receive an email that confirms your registration and includes additional parking and training site information.
