To grow Oregon’s aspiring and upcoming technology leaders by providing one-on-one coaching, mentorship, and guidance.
How It Works:
TAO matches mentors with mentees based on skills, interest, and career goals.
Mentors are technology leaders who have substantial professional experience in technology, and an interest in building technology leaders.
Mentees are technologists who would benefit from focused attention from a mentor who is unbiased and separated from their immediate working environment. Mentees should have at least 5 years of work experience in technology, and be on a growth path to: senior engineer or architect; engineering manager / director / C-level role; tech-oriented product manager or product leader; or be either a current or aspirational tech-centered entrepreneur.
The mentor and mentee agree to meet at least once a month for six months, although the cadence of the meetings are set by the individuals.
The mentee should set the agenda for each meeting in order to focus the conversation on the areas of most interest to the mentee. At the end of the six months, TAO will ask both mentor and mentee to reflect on the effectiveness of the mentor relationship in achieving the mentee’s goals.
The mentor’s promise: To be a confidential, open sounding board and source of wisdom to help a mentee navigate the challenges of technology career growth.
The mentee’s promise: To be honest and professional with questions and concerns, and to be open to feedback and coaching.
