The Optimist Club of George Town is part of an international volunteer group, Optimist International, with almost 3,000 clubs and over 80,000 members in more than 20 countries. The purpose of the club is to bring out the best in youth, in our communities, and in ourselves.

One of the many initiatives that the Optimist International family of clubs engages with, is the Tri-Star Sports initiative.  This programme introduces children aged 8 to 13 to three skills in specific sports, and while this year's focus sports for the Caribbean District of Optimist International are football and netball, our club has included boxing as a 3rd sport, as we thought it would be fun to do 3 sports as a nod to the "tri" in Tri-Star Sports.
Top participants will receive medals for their mastery of the skills, but all participants will receive tokens of appreciation for their participation.  The event is proudly sponsored by Andro and Jacques Scott, with more partners coming on board leading up to the event.
The event will be held in the environs of the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on May 25, 2019 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
