BUILDING IN A DENSE URBAN ENVIRONMENT:

Program Speaker: Timothy D. Lynch P.E., NYC Department of Buildings [DOB], Executive Director Forensic Engineering Unit.

This presentation highlights what every professional engineer should know about building construction records and resources in New York City. An in depth look at the importance of creating a historical profile of a building or site before the start of any construction work. Through web based assessments and research, Dept. engineer will detail how to reveal previous work history at a site and determine the previous violations and structural conditions of neighboring parties. How these factors can impact a building’s structural condition will also be discussed.

Building collapses will also be discussed.
