MLTAV COVID-19 Response

Introduction to survey and message from the MLTAV President:

First and foremost we hope you, your family, your friends, your school and wider community are well and safe in this unprecedented time of rapid change and uncertainty.

On behalf of the MLTAV Committee, I applaud our members’ strength and courage in working with schools and wider communities to ensure continuity of student education amidst the current uncertainty and global COVID-19 crisis.

It is imperative that we prioritise the physical and mental health and well-being of ourselves, each other, our families, friends, students, school and wider community. We must work together through the current State of Emergency in Victoria to combat the spread of COVID-19 to come out stronger on the other side.

The MLTAV acknowledges that it has become critical to respond thoughtfully as to how we move forward with plans and strategies.

As a professional association, with a purpose of supporting teachers and learning of Languages throughout Victoria, we are strategising ways to continue to support our members in this rapidly changing and unpredictable climate.

The MLTAV is adhering to the the Government mandate relating to crowd-control and social distancing in response to the current COVID-19 crisis. Consequently, not knowing how long these restrictions will be in place for, the MLTAV has made the difficult, but sensible and necessary decision to postpone its 2020 Conference from Friday 15 May to a date to be confirmed.

However, the MLTAV is looking at ways it can continue to support its Members throughout this period of uncertainty (although no-one at this stage knows how long this will last).

What do our Members' need now?

What will our Members' needs be over the next six months?

Whilst our Committee has thoughts and ideas around this, it is our Members who are best placed to inform the Association of this. This will inform and drive MLTAV's approach to developing a supportive strategy and align planned activities to Member needs.

This feedback is invaluable and we encourage all members to take a few minutes to complete this survey by 5pm on FRIDAY 17 APRIL.

Thank you and best wishes,

Andrew Morabito, President, MLTAV
