Following the adoption of the City and County’s new
Comprehensive Plan in October 2023, the Planning Department has shifted its focus to implementing the goals and actions in the plan. One specific way we implement the Actions in the Comprehensive Plan is by recommending changes to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The UDO is a legally binding set of rules that regulates how physical development of land is allowed to occur in both the City and County.
For fall 2024 engagement, the consultant team has released the first draft sections of the new UDO including the zoning districts, a zoning map, and the use table which can be reviewed here:

https://www.engagedurham.com/211/Upcoming-Engagement. This survey is asking for your initial input on these proposed drafts. Your responses will be used to inform revisions to these drafts of the New UDO and to help us understand what additional information you need to continue to engage throughout the rest of the project timeline. This survey includes eight questions, plus an optional demographic section - it should take about 10 minutes to complete.
