Since 2004, The Cleveland Orchestra’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Awards have recognized individuals and organizations for their extraordinary service to the community reflecting the spirit, example and teachings of Dr. King. 
 
We are currently seeking nominations for Individuals or Businesses/Organizations whose impactful work addresses one or more of the following areas:  

  1. Education – those who have made extraordinary efforts to eradicate barriers that impede the attainment of academic excellence.
  2. Social Justice – those whose actions have significantly contributed to achieving justice for individuals, groups, or communities using legal, legislative, or governmental systems to reduce disparities in housing, health care, education, employment opportunities, and criminal justice.
  3. Racial Equity, Access, Diversity, and Inclusion – those whose actions and initiatives provide tangible tools, resources and training for dismantling racism, and addressing racial equity, diversity and inclusion in our workplaces and in our community.   
  4. Music and the Arts – those who use the power of the creative arts to advocate for positive social change, and/or create a greater understanding of diverse cultures.

Nominations received by November 1, 2021 will be considered for the 2022 MLK Service Awards.
Any nominations received after 11/1 will be considered in the 2023 awards cycle. 
 
Please note that nominations with incomplete information will not be eligible for consideration.
A selected honoree will need to be available for:
-Video Interview (December 2021)
-Award Ceremony at MLK Celebration Concert (January 16, 2022)
