Muldrew Lake Cottagers Survey 2018

Dear Muldrew Lakes Cottagers:
We invite you to participate in our 2018 MLCA Community Survey. This survey is designed to help the board better understand the current demographics, priorities and wishes of the cottagers in order to guide the creation and planning of community events and services for the ever changing interests of the cottagers and residents of Muldrew Lakes.

You can complete the survey online by simply visiting:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MuldrewSurvey2018.

If filling out the survey in hard copy, you can contact Janet Kincaid for pickup at kincaidclan@outlook.com or call her at 705-394-7055.

We are hoping to have more than one survey per cottage i.e. from all ages over 10 years old.

Individual responses will be kept confidential. Only aggregate information or comments that cannot identify individuals will be released.

Please feel free to contact Janet Kincaid with questions relating to the survey.

Your participation in this survey will ensure our funds and efforts are being focused in the right areas that best suit Muldrew Lakes Cottagers and residents, so we thank you in advance for your time.

Question Title

* 10. BIOBLITZ: A BioBlitz is a fun, 2-day event, where teams of local experts and community members identify as many species as possible in 24 hours. The MLCA is interested in hosting a bioblitz for the Muldrew Lakes in the summer of 2019. The event will bring together scientific experts, professional naturalists, and amateur nature enthusiasts hoping to learn more about the biodiversity of our lake. With climate change and continuing development pressures, it is important to understand our local ecosystems and get to know what lives in and around the lake. A biological inventory, generated by a bioblitz event, can help our community and local government design stewardship programs to sustain and improve the health of the Muldrew Lakes. It can also reveal important information about endangered species so that recovery and protection plans can be put in place. All are welcome at a bioblitz event; you do not need any specific knowledge to participate.Would you be interested in participating in a BioBlitz on Muldrew Lake in 2019?

Question Title

* 11. COMMUNITY LAKE PLANNING: A lake plan is a community document that guides both environmental stewardship and land use planning according to a “vision” for the lake determined by cottagers, residents, and business owners. Thus, the outcome of the process is two-fold: 1) voluntary actions to care for the environmental health of the lake, and 2) recommendations for lake-specific policies to guide development. Without a lake plan, stewardship programs may not exist or be focused on the most important issues, and the risk increases for implementing “bad” planning decisions, which do not adhere to the shared values of the Muldrew Lake community. When completed properly, lake planning is a fair, balanced, and transparent process where everyone has a voice, and pertinent background info such as scientific studies help to ground decision-making. Having read this, how do you feel about us commencing a lake planning process?

* 12. COMMUNITY LAKE PLANNING: If approved at this year's AGM, I would be interested in participating in the process by attending community meetings, returning surveys, etc.
