Athlete of the Year

Through the Greater Dandenong Sports Awards the City of greater Dandenong recognises the exceptional contribution by people within our community who work hard in their chosen sport and who enrich the lives of others through providing the opportunity to participate in sport.

Nominations are sought for individual athletes whose outstanding work has made a positive contribution to the Greater Dandenong sporting community in areas such as enhancing performance, leadership, engaging disaffected youth through sport and inclusive engagement of all groups within our community to increase participation.

 Award Criteria
Consideration will be given to athletes who have demonstrated some or all of the following:
- Made significant progress in their field of sport.
- Had significant impact on sport in CGD and been an inspiration to others in the community
- Competed with excellent sportsmanship (denoting a style and attitude that displays fairness, courtesy and striving spirit).
- Gave something back to the sport or community.
- Acted as a role model and a positive influence on the community.
- Exceeded expectations in their sporting performance or made a significant difference to a team.
- Showed potential in their sporting performance.

Individual athletes must be nominated by someone other than themselves and have a second person to act as a referee. (Referees may be contacted for additional information.) 

Please note Junior Athlete of the Year nominees must be under the age of 18 at the beginning of the nomination period (May 2016)
