Introduction

The many different approaches to accounting for renewable energy and associated greenhouse gasses (GHGs) delivered through the grid by default are creating uncertainty for companies committed to meeting energy and GHG emissions targets. These companies are looking for clear and consistent guidance on the right accounting methods to use, and the types of claims that are valid under these approaches. This dialogue will define areas of consensus in quantifying the GHG impacts of default grid-delivered renewable energy, develop resources to document renewable energy accounting best practices, and identify ongoing work needed to facilitate accurate accounting.

Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) is creating consensus-based guidance around renewable energy delivered by default and GHG emissions accounting as part of its ongoing work to define standards and best practices relevant to renewable energy markets and claims. In an effort to engage as many voices as possible, CRS has developed this stakeholder survey. Responses will contribute to the dialogue and any resulting market guidance.
