The 2026 State of AI in Technical Documentation Survey is designed to capture a clear, practical snapshot of how technical documentation teams are actually using AI today. This five-minute multiple-choice survey collects data on where AI appears in documentation workflows, which tasks it supports, how often it is used, and the challenges that limit broader adoption. We also seek to understand organizational support, tooling gaps, and where documentation professionals believe AI could deliver the most value next.
After the survey closes, we will analyze the results and publish a summary report highlighting the trends, patterns, and shared challenges across the industry. The goal is to give documentation leaders and practitioners credible data to guide decisions, advocate for better tools and training, and set realistic expectations for AI’s role in documentation work.
