Hello!
RCGD Global is on a mission to make sustainability more relatable and accessible

We are working on a project to better understand the relationship between culture and sustainability. Specifically, to discover how your culture and perceptions can inform how you view and experience sustainability.

To clarify, we define culture as the set of distinctive spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional features of society or a social group… it encompasses, in addition to art and literature, lifestyles, ways of living together, value systems, traditions and beliefs.

Culture is complex and influenced by elements ranging from geographical location to upbringing. Through the lenses of diverse cultures, with full consideration of age, race, class, identity, socioeconomics, disability, religion and educational attainment, we want to understand how sustainability exists for others, and how these differences can be celebrated and studied.

If we better understand different perspectives, we can form better connections. That is why we are asking these questions, as they will provide insight for work we will be sharing. Thank you!

Question Title

* 12. We want to understand your cultural references for sustainability and the words you might have used to describe sustainable practices.

For example, it might be a word used to describe an item that has been fairly paid for, the principle of being thrifty and resourceful, or the way an item is designed to become something else at the end of its lifecycle and not wasted.

It might be the name of a mending technique or a way of thinking about how we should interact with nature and our surrounding community, a way to treat people.

Could you share one word or phrase from your culture, in your native language, and with an English translation if English is not your native tongue, that has meaning in the sustainability space?
