Capital City Pride brings together the members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community their friends, allies, and supporters. We do through activities and events that promote education, family, health, and community and strive to inspire, educate, and celebrate our diverse community and culture with and for the greater Des Moines Metro.

Our vision is to create a community where the presence and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people are welcomed and celebrated; where intolerance is challenged and defeated; where justice prevails; and where civil rights of all people are valued and respected.
CRITERIA

1.     The individual applicant has demonstrated leadership in efforts to:

a.      Furthers Capital City Pride’s mission to educate, advocate, and help create an LGBTQ+ accepting Des Moines Metro community through education, family, health and /or community

b.     Demonstrate leadership in an organization, program, project, or other efforts that advance equity and awareness of the LGBTQ+ community

c.      Demonstrate achievement in business, the arts, the professions, government, or education that specifically benefits the LGBTQ+ community

d.     Volunteer Service to LGBTQ+ people through community activism and advocacy, mentoring, outreach, and role modeling for other LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ+ people with the aim of fostering understanding and support for the LGBTQ+ community

e.     Increase education and understanding of the LGBTQ+ community

f.      Improve the lives of individual LGBTQ+ people or the LGBTQ+ community as a whole

g.     Works to increase awareness of issues that affect LGBTQ+ individuals

h.     Engage in advocacy activities beyond the scope of their job duties
