Capital City Pride brings together the members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community their friends, allies, and supporters. We do through activities and events that promote education, family, health, and community and strive to inspire, educate, and celebrate our diverse community and culture with and for the greater Des Moines Metro.

Our vision is to create a community where the presence and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people are welcomed and celebrated; where intolerance is challenged and defeated; where justice prevails; and where civil rights of all people are valued and respected.

The company applicant has demonstrated efforts to:

a.      Support Capital City Pride events and activities through sponsorship, volunteerism, or other collaboration.

b.     Furthers diversity and inclusion through education, family, health and community.

c.      Demonstrates support for diversity and inclusion and LGBTQ+ through a recognized company diversity and inclusion program.

d.     Demonstrate leadership in an organization, program, project, or other efforts that advances equity and awareness of the LGBTQ community.

e.     Demonstrate achievement in business, the arts, the professions, government, or education that specifically benefits the LGBTQ community.

f.      Volunteer service to LGBTQ+ people through community activism and advocacy, mentoring, outreach, and role modeling for other LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ people with the aim of fostering understanding and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

g.      Increase education and understanding of the LGBTQ+ community.

h.     Improve the lives of individual LGBTQ+ people or the LGBTQ+ community as a whole

i.       Works to increase awareness of issues that affect LGBTQ+ individuals
