Wesley LifeForce was established in 1995 as a response to the growing number of suicides in Australia, Wesley LifeForce provides suicide prevention services that educate and empower local communities and support people most at risk.

We take a comprehensive approach to tackling suicide by working in the areas of prevention, intervention and postvention.

Wesley LifeForce has developed quality suicide prevention training suite. Our Suicide Prevention Workshops are designed to teach people how to identify the signs that someone may be at risk of suicide and appropriate action to take. Effective interventions can make a real difference and save lives.
 
Program description
The program has three stages:
·         Participation in a one-day general community suicide prevention workshop.
·         Two-day Train the Trainer program facilitated by a Wesley LifeForce trainer.
·         Co-facilitation of two assessed workshops supervised by a Wesley LifeForce Trainer within one month of completing T4T and must be assessed as competent.

Once accredited, participants are required to facilitate or co-facilitate four workshops a year to maintain their accreditation.  The first of these workshops must be delivered within 3 months of the date of your accreditation.
 
Applicant eligibility
 
Applicants must demonstrate the following:
 
·      Sound knowledge of mental health concerns and treatments
      
·      Empathic and respectful attitudes towards those experiencing mental health issues

·      Professional or personal experience working with or supporting those experiencing mental health issues

·      Good communication and facilitation skills

·      Employer support to facilitate Wesley LifeForce Suicide Prevention workshops or a business plan if self-employed

·      Supply Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent

·      Supply Police Check

·      Provide Certificate of Currency of Public Liability Insurance or Professional Indemnity Insurance if self-employed

·      Have access to clinical supervision

Two Train the Trainer programs, each with eight participants, will be offered in

The locations of the supervised workshops will be determined in part by participants’ normal work region. Delivery of the supervised workshops will not be funded.

There is a maximum of eight participants for this program. The final decision on successful applicants will be made by Wesley LifeForce Training.
