The Michael Edwards Memorial Award for Advancing Telehealth in the Northeast is presented annually to an individual or organization in the Northeast Region (New England and New York) that has been a part of innovative and impactful efforts to increase telehealth utilization. Extra consideration is given towards applicants working within telehealth avenues that were near and dear to our colleague Michael Edwards, including:

Community Health Center/Federally Qualified Health Center/ Rural Health Center Based
  • Skilled Nursing Facility Based
  • Focused in Rural Areas
  • Telehealth Research or Innovation
  • Population Health


Last year's award winner was Sharon Daley. During her twenty-two years with the Maine Seacoast Mission, Sharon developed and grew the Mission’s telemedicine program serving Maine’s outer islands (Frenchboro, Isle au Haut, Swan’s Island, Matinicus, Cranberry Isles). Through technology on board the Mission’s boat Sunbeam V, Sharon facilitated both primary care and behavioral health appointments between mainland providers and islanders of all ages.

Nominations opened on March 6th, 2024 and will close on Friday, May 24, 2024.
