Diocesan football participation is now at historic lows. The reduction of players, at all grade levels, has been significant, in just the last couple of years. The diocese is looking for YOUR opinion and feedback to assist in guiding this important ministry going forward.

The Diocese of Columbus Recreation Association is considering a "different model" for 4th/5th/6th Grade Football starting in 2019 (the diocese anticipates being able to keep VARSITY football, 7th & 8th grade, intact for the short/mid-term). This is a direct result of significant decreases in participation at these grade levels, in addition to recent initiatives around the country to limit head related contact in different sports. Please select from below on a preferred new "model".

8 vs. 8 tackle football - keep the game similar to what it is now (equipment and rules) but lower the number of participating players to eight on offense and eight on defense during the game.

Rookie Tackle Football for this grade level (4th/5th/6th grades) - this is "full equipment", but modified rule and field offering, already rolled out nationwide, that is designed to be a 'bridge' between touch/flag offerings and tackle football. Flag / Touch football for this grade level (4th/5th/6th grades) - both flag and touch football have no contact as part of their program design, the uniforms worn do NOT include protective gear (not needed).
