I am seeking community feedback about an upgrade to the old children's playground area at Gordon Thomson Park, Chelmer. This was to be the location of the new ninja warrior playground, but due to contaminated land issues, this course was relocated to Graceville Riverside Parklands. Currently, only the swings remain.
The big question is, what should go in this area?
The sports field was remediated a few years ago, and is available for social and recreational play by all in our community. It's the adjoining playground area at the end of the footpath that I want to revitalise.
Projects are funded in two ways, with small park projects funded from the Tennyson Ward Suburban Enhancement Fund, or bigger projects funded through Council's annual capital budget. Planning and delivery can take many years on Council's capital works list, or 1-2 years through the local parks funds.

Please keep in mind that this park adjoins a residential neighbourhood and an upgrade needs to be respectful of proximity to families' homes. Plus, the area floods so any upgrade needs to be flood-resilient.
