The Maltby Centre Youth Facilitators (2) will contribute to growing Maltby Centre's ability to engage youth and use youth experience and expertise to improve our services and our organization. The Youth Facilitators will work approximately 10 hours/month and will be rewarded with an honourarium upon the completion of objectives. Youth Facilitators must be available to sign on for a one term (Spring 2019 - Summer 2020). 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Collaboratively organize and plan the work of the Maltby Centre Youth Advisory Committee
  • Promote the priorities identified by the Maltby Centre Youth Advisory Committee both within the Maltby Centre and the KFL&A community 
  • Co-facilitate biweekly meetings
  • Liaise with other youth advisory networks in KFL&A 
  • Provide knowledge and support to integrate youth engagement practice across programs and services at the Maltby Centre, including how we design, deliver, and evaluate our services 
  • Share new developments/trends in youth culture and youth engagement with the team (e.g. research, initiatives of partner organizations, relevant training opportunities, etc.) 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Between the ages of 13-24
  • Police Record Check (PRC) 
  • A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience as an engaged young person (i.e., experience with youth-led organizing and/or youth engagement activities in an agency setting and/or demonstrated leadership in community activities)
  • Knowledge of child and youth mental health and/or autism services 
  • Knowledge of youth engagement principles and practices 

DESIRED SKILLS: 
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written 
  • Training in facilitation 
  • Strong collaborative approach and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills 
  • Bilingual
