Call for Nominations

AIHA is issuing a call for nominations for the position of Representative to IOHA. This position serves a three-year term, and will be an integral part of the planning of IOHA 2018: the 11th International Scientific Conference in Washington, DC.

Nominations will be accepted until Friday, November 4, 2016.

Criteria
  • AIHA member in good standing
  • Familiar with and supportive of AIHA's and IOHA’s mission, vision, and values
  • Background in international occupational hygiene
  • Dedicated to the IOHA Strategic Goals: 1. Promote occupational hygiene, 2. Improve occupational hygiene capabilities and practice, 3. Effective networking and knowledge management, and 4. Robust governance
  • Understanding of strategic thinking and innovation
  • A commitment to the time and financial commitment required to serve (ability to travel internationally and cover the costs of two trips per year, locations determined by IOHA BOD)
  • Prepared to disclose in writing any potential conflicts of interest
 
The selection committee consists of the AIHA Officers of the Board. When considering candidates, the committee will also take into consideration prior experience in serving in a leadership/board role or volunteer activities.

What is IOHA?

The International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA) is an association of occupational hygiene organizations from across the world and represents the global community of occupational hygienists.

These organizations share a dedication to the discipline and application of the inherent principles of occupational hygiene. Since its creation in 1987, IOHA has grown to 32 member organizations, representing over 20,000 occupational hygienists worldwide.

IOHA Mission

To enhance the international network of occupational hygiene associations that promotes, develops and improves occupational hygiene worldwide, providing a safe and healthy working environment for all.

Accountability:

  • Accountable to the AIHA Board of Directors, with periodic reporting on activities of IOHA required
  • Agrees to uphold and abide by IOHA Articles of Association, Rules, volunteer code of conduct, and financial policies and procedures
  • Agrees to uphold the professional image of AIHA on an international front
  • Have a completed Conflict of Interest form on file

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the IOHA Board meeting to be held in Seattle during AIHce 2017, as well as additional IOHA Board meetings
  • Serve on the conference planning committee for IOHA 2018 to be held in the Washington, DC area in Fall, 2018
  • Fulfill the fiduciary, due diligence, and other responsibilities as described in the IOHA Articles of Association, Rules and volunteer code of conduct
  • Accept responsibilities for IOHA assignments as defined by the IOHA Board of Trustees
  • Attend IOHA-related meetings with the IOHA and AIHA Board of Directors as required, both face-to-face and conference call
  • Maintains records of activities and timelines relevant to his/her position during term of service
