Feedback requested as the Department of Human Services Begins Search for a New Director

Lake County Government is beginning the search for a new Director of the Department of Human Services (DHS) and Wrap Around. We seek feedback from the community to help us with the search/interview process. The Director of DHS plays a highly responsible and complex role in managing and administering State Assistance programs, county assistance programs and collaborating with community leaders to create a skilled human services workforce and expand county programming to meet our community’s public assistance needs.

DHS is responsible for carrying out a variety of state and federal programs in Lake County on behalf of the State of Colorado. This includes numerous state assistance programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Old Age Pension (OAP), Home Care Allowance (HCA), Colorado Works (TANF), Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP), Child Support Services, Child Welfare, Adult Protection, and Prevention Programming for youth at risk of child welfare involvement. The Department of Human Services is also responsible for determining eligibility for Health First Colorado (State Medicaid) and Emergency Service Function 6: Mass Care and Mass Shelter in the event of a disaster.
