Anthropic's IPO: Which Risks Matter Most?

We have published our analysis of the risks we think matter most to the value of Anthropic, and of how we expect its IPO prospectus to describe them. Now we would like your view. Anthropic has confidentially submitted its registration statement, and the press has reported a version of it, but the prospectus has not yet been made public. The survey takes about five minutes and will close on October 15, 2026. Responses are anonymous, and we will publish the aggregate results. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Robert G. Eccles and Shivaram Rajgopal.
1.For each risk below, how likely is it to materially reduce the value of Anthropic's shares over the next three years? Consider both how likely it is to occur and how much damage it would do.

Compute commitments: roughly half a trillion dollars of long-term compute commitments, much of it financed off balance sheet, set against a short revenue history
Energy and the grid: power availability, grid costs and local opposition to new data centers
Suppliers who are also investors: Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom are both major suppliers and major shareholders
Customer and channel concentration: dependence on a few large customers and on distribution through platforms owned by competitors
How revenue is measured: the gap between reported run-rates and GAAP revenue, including sales through Amazon's and Google's cloud marketplaces
Export controls: the government restricting access to Anthropic's models, as it did in June 2026
The Pentagon's supply-chain-risk designation of Anthropic
Training data and copyright litigation
Indemnifying customers against intellectual-property claims
Harm to users, including minors
Misuse of the models (for example, cyberattacks) and whether that exposure can be insured
AI agents that take actions in customers' systems and cause losses
State, federal and EU regulation of frontier AI
Anthropic's own safety commitments requiring it to delay or restrict products
Governance: founder voting control, the Long-Term Benefit Trust and public benefit corporation status
Unit economics: whether prices per unit of AI use fall faster than the cost of providing it, including competition from low-cost Chinese models
A large stock-based compensation charge and dilution at the IPO
