* 4. uring the afternoon on Wednesday, August 14th, you will have the opportunity to participate in one of the activities listed below. There are limited spots available in each activity, please rank order the activities you prefer to participate in. We will do our best to accommodate one of your top 3 preferences.   • Horseback Riding (board shuttle for a 30 min. ride to the horse ranch). This activity has reached its capacity: Explore the mountainous areas of WNY within thousands of acres of state land you can only see atop these majestic animals! Once you arrive to the horse ranch, you will be suited up, given a brief introduction to riding and then off you go on your horse for about an hour ride through the country. If you want to see the untouched nature in WNY, while getting to know your future colleagues this is the way to do it.
  • Scavenger Hunt: Doesn’t this place feel GREAT! The Village in Ellicottville is full of small old town feels. With 20 eclectic shops and 20 restaurants nowhere is as unique as this ski village. During this scavenger hunt you will work with 4 or 5 of your new teammates to find your way to the hidden gems and along the way discover the beauty that is Ellicottville.
  • Cupcaked!: Do you have a sweet tooth? Head into the Village and meet Anne & her team at Cupcaked! She will guide your new incoming MBA class team in making the treats of your dreams. Then show off your decorating skills with your own custom cupcake combination!
  • Adventure Bound on the fly – (Fly fishing, Kayaking and SUP). This activity has reached its capacity: Head up the mountain to Spruce Lake where calm water on top and many fish below lies! Laugh together with your new colleagues as you test out your balance on a Stand Up Paddle Board or take a relaxing trip on a kayak. “Spruce” up your fly fishing technique or learn the basics! Either way well get someone some fish for dinner.  You will have 1-hour to fly fish and 1-hour to Kayak and balance on the SUP. 
  • Guided Hike: Skiers go down but you and your teammates are going up!  Check out the ski slopes in a new light in a challenging hike up the mountains of Holiday Valley to the peak for the best view of the valley.  Make your way across the crest and through the Enchanted Forest to Spruce Lake.  Enjoy a scenic hike down the mountain and back to your home base! (This hike is considered a moderate hike with opportunities along the way to take a break).
  • Painting: A picture is worth a thousand words! Remember this trip by painting your version of it. You will learn the basics of painting, while getting to know your new MBA colleagues and most definitely leave with a master piece! Painting will take place at Holiday Valley.

* 5. You will have the opportunity to volunteer in downtown Buffalo on Wednesday, August 21. The Teacher's Desk volunteering site has reached its capacity. You will be volunteering at Kiwanis Fishing Derby at Hoyt Lake to help children fish. If you have any questions, please contact Jill Illenz (jmp8@buffalo.edu.)
