Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the relationship between brain injury and pelvic health dysfunction, including common impairments affecting bladder, bowel, and sexual function.
2. Identify key signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction in individuals with neurological injury across different care settings.
3. Explain the role of interdisciplinary team members (e.g., PT, OT, nursing, speech therapy, physicians) in addressing pelvic health during neurorehabilitation.
4. Demonstrate appropriate screening strategies and clinical questions to identify pelvic health concerns in patients with brain injury.
5. Apply basic intervention strategies and referral pathways to address pelvic health dysfunction within their scope of practice.
6. Recognize barriers (e.g., cognitive, communication, psychosocial) that may impact assessment and treatment of pelvic health in this population and propose strategies to overcome them.
