Chapter 350 of the Iowa Code, enacted in 1955, established the Iowa County Conservation Boards. The Woodbury County Conservation Board was formed in 1960 under this legislation.

The purpose of the Woodbury County Conservation Board by Iowa Code Is to acquire, develop, maintain and make available to the inhabitants of Woodbury County public museums, parks, preserves, parkways, playgrounds, recreational centers, county forests, wildlife and other conservation areas and to promote and preserve the health and general welfare of the people, to encourage the orderly development and conservation of natural resources, and to cultivate good citizenship by providing adequate programs of public recreation.

The Woodbury County Conservation Board is a local tax supported organization within the Woodbury County government. Its mission is to serve as a regional agency tasked with providing high quality and valuable education, recreation, enhancement, and preservation of our natural resources through professional and courteous service for the betterment of current and future generations.
