Introduction

The Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association’s RPR Working Group (RPRWG) is looking for real estate lawyers, realtors, and other real estate professionals’ feedback to collect information from industry stakeholders as to what they think should be shown on an RPR for residential and commercial/industrial properties.

The working group has developed a survey and we would appreciate your input.

Improvements that are shown are outlined in Part D, Section 8.5 of the Manual of Standard Practice.

Background – The Real Property Report (RPR) is prepared “for the benefit of the Property owner, subsequent owners, and any of their agents for the purpose of (a land conveyance, support of a subdivision application, a mortgage application, a submittal to the municipality for a compliance certificate, etc.)” (Source: Alberta Land Surveyors Manual of Standard Practice, April 22, 2018).

It appears that some municipalities across Alberta require much more information shown on an RPR than what is outlined in the MSP, and what is intended to be shown for property conveyance.

Through discussion, the RPR Working Group would like your input to determine if the ALSA should consider separate standards for residential real property reports vs. commercial/industrial RPRs.
