Pierpont Beach Management Plan Community Meeting #1

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback. This survey is for community members who were unable to attend Community Meeting #1 or who would like another opportunity to provide input after reviewing the meeting materials.

Community Meeting #1 was organized as an open house with a series of interactive stations focused on key issues and opportunities being considered through the Pierpont Beach Management Plan development process. Participants were invited to move freely among the stations, review information, and provide feedback on topics including coastal hazards, beach management, recreation, environmental resources, and future design considerations.

Your input will help the City and project team understand community priorities, questions, and concerns and will directly inform development of the 10% design concepts. Feel free to respond to the questions that are most relevant to you.

Please utilize the map below when answering questions about specific locations.
Coastal Hazards

The following 3 questions are intended to identify the coastal hazards, locations, concerns, and opportunities that community members believe are most important for the Pierpont Beach Management Plan to address.
1.Which locations along Pierpont Beach are most susceptible to damage from coastal hazards (storm flooding, high tide flooding, storm erosion, windblown sand)? Be specific about location (provide lane names if possible).
2.Where have you witnessed wave overtopping at lane ends along Pierpont Beach? Be specific about location (provide lane names if possible).
3.What actions or strategies should this PBMP consider to reduce or manage the impacts of coastal hazards?
Recreation and Beach Use

The following 2 questions are intended to understand how community members use different parts of the beach and which recreational opportunities they would like the plan to support.
4.Where do you typically use the beach for recreation? (Refer to the map in Question 1)
5.What activities would you like to continue or see more of at Pierpont Beach?
Biological Resources and Dunes

The following 3 questions are intended to identify opportunities for native vegetation, dune restoration, and ESHA enhancement along Pierpont Beach.
6.Which types of native vegetation would you like to see on the beach?
7.Where should dunes be restored along Pierpont beach and why? Be specific about location (provide lane names if possible).
8.How should the PBMP protect critical habitat for species such as the Western snowy plover, California grunion, and California legless lizard?
Sand and Beach Maintenance

The following 3 questions are intended to gather community preferences regarding the locations and activities for sand and beach maintenance.
9.What actions or strategies should be taken to address nuisance sand? Be specific about timing and location (e.g., lane end, stairwells, next to fences/walls, etc.).
10.How should beach width be maintained throughout the year to provide adequate space for public access and recreation?
11.Are there public access points that are susceptible to coastal hazards and require additional maintenance?
Conceptual Approaches and Possible Designs

The following 3 questions intend to gather input on concept designs and approaches for the design team, Moffatt & Nichol.
12.What problems do you experience at Pierpont Beach?
13.If you could change anything at Pierpont Beach, what would it be?
14.What is the future vision you wish to see and experience at Pierpont Beach?
