Dementia is a growing concern globally. NL has the fastest growing population in all of Canada and will need for increased care services for this important popluation to age-well at home and stay in their homes and communities for as long as possible.

To support the need for specialized services in the community, we need to measure the interest, opinion and level of need for this service within communities, large and small, to carefully plan and provide services for those persons living with dementia, their caregivers, and families.

Dementia Day Homes is an idea from an experienced dementia care professional that would incoporate community living within a home, providing structured and meaningful daily activity and professional services to a number of persons living with dementia in the community. Individuals would have access to pick up/drop off services, enjoyable daily activities, nutrious meals, and compionship on a daily basis, returning home in the eveningtime to their family. Activities would be tailored to each individuals interests, abilities, and capabilities within a safe and secure environment.
