Overview

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s (NJDEP) Electric School Bus Grant Program provides up to $15,000,000 per year for three years to support schools moving towards cleaner, healthier electric school buses. Funding is subject to availability. Approximately half of the up to $15,000,000 Round 2 funding will be available for this solicitation for electric school buses and chargers for individual school districts and school bus contractors as outlined below. The other half is dedicated to five Eco-hub projects which will pilot vehicle-to-building technology. The Eco-hub project is being managed separately from this solicitation in cooperation with the Board of Public Utilities; the participating school districts were previously selected and notified through a separate solicitation.

Applications are due by 5:00 pm on Friday, September 26th, 2025.

Who's Eligible?
Under this solicitation, two types of entities are eligible to apply:

School Districts School Bus Contractors
  • Schools and school districts who operate school bus services are eligible to apply directly.
  • School bus contractors are eligible to apply, however, the application must be made in conjunction with a specified school or school district.
