CCCA/DDMS Public Art Survey

Community Input Needed

The Caroline County Council of Arts in partnership with Downtown Denton Main Street is considering a public art project in downtown Denton to enhance and attract people to Denton's arts district. Your input is important in helping to make this project a true representation of our community. This survey will only take a few minutes.

Question Title

* 1. Please review and rank your choice of the following potential public art themes (with 1 being your first choice) :

Agriculture - celebrating the rural aspect of our community by conveying concepts of farming like- land, crops, livestock, equipment, tools, structures. etc.

Sky and Water- recognizing the natural beauty of our local waterways, horizons and their inhabitants with concepts that may include birds, wildlife, aquatic life (crabs, fish, oysters, etc), people (fishing, crabbing, skiing, tubing, paddling, boating, flying, etc) and other typical sights on the water and in the sky.

History - commemorating important moments in time with concepts that capture, for example, Franklin Roosevelt's visit to Denton, stories of the Underground Railroad, people who made a difference in the community and other significant past happenings.

Garden - depicting Denton's motto "Garden of America" by conveying concepts of horticulture including - fruits, vegetables, flowers, garden activities (weeding, watering, harvesting, playing, picnicking, etc.) and other such things that you think of when you hear the word "garden".

Murals - painted, mosaic, or mixed media images affixed to a building or free standing structure.

Statuary - sculpted or fabricated three - dimensional forms made out of a variety of materials

Functional - incorporating artistic elements into functional pieces like benches, trash receptacles, lighting, fencing, screening, etc.
