Question Title

* 1. How clear is your vision of the future?

I wish things were clearer than they are. I believe we are going somewhere, I'm just not sure I could explain it to anyone. I can tell you what I don't want us to become, but I'm not sure I could do a good job explaining what I DO want. I feel like I have a clear sense of where we are going and what I want us to become. It is informing the decisions I make but I'm not sure my team is as clear as I am. My team and I are crystal clear on the vision of our organization. We know who we want to be and the impact we want to have over the next decade. Full steam ahead.

Question Title

* 2. How clear are your processes?

I feel like we are trying to get better but we tend to copy what we see working elsewhere and haven't really spent the time to dig into what we should do next. I'm not sure I could articulate what makes us unique. We know what needs to happen next in order to make progress on realizing our vision. Most of the team is excited but we are still a little clunky when it comes to the specifics. We know what needs to be done, but don't always know who should do it and in what order. The steps necessary to realizing our vision are crystal clear. We know exactly what do next and who should be doing what. We have clear goals over the next season that will help us take the next step towards our maximum impact.

Question Title

* 3. How do you feel about your team?

I have good days and bad. I wish I could start over without hurting anyone. The team is not a unit, just a bunch of people that work for the same organization. We have days where we feel like we are in unison and others where "team" wouldn't be the word I use to describe us. I am generally happy. I am confident with my team and I feel like we manage our ups and downs in a healthy way. We give each other the benefit of the doubt and are quick to forgive. I am almost always happy with our team. I am confident and optimistic about our future. I feel like everyone is in their high impact sweet spot. We know what needs to be done and who is doing it. I feel like this team could be successful even if we were transplanted to a completely different industry. These people are awesome!

Question Title

* 4. How do you feel about the systems you use to make sure things get done?

I feel like if I don't pay close attention to how things get done, they won't get done the right way. More often then not I am scrambling trying to play catchup. We are constantly dropping the ball and apologizing. I feel like we have fairly good systems. The process can vary from one day to the next but that's because I like us to stay flexible. I do find it hard to take longer vacations because I'm nervous we will miss something. I usually take my laptop with me when I'm out of town so I can keep a close eye on how things are going. I would have difficulty completely disconnecting. I feel like we have solid systems and we revisit them regularly to improve. We know what needs to be done step by step so that nothing gets missed. I feel like I can take a vacation without worry or feeling additional stress. I know our team will do a great job.

Question Title

* 5. How do you feel about the framework you use to make decisions?

I make most of the decisions. It takes a while before I feel like I can trust other people to do it the right way. When I'm asked to explain why we do it "this way" I honestly just want to respond with "because I said so". If someone was to look over the way I've made decisions over the last few years, I'm not sure I would be that consistent. Our values are somewhat vague. I make some of the decisions. I am able to offload many of my decisions and even outsource some projects. For the most part, I can clearly articulate what I'm looking for and what is "out of bounds" for our organization. We have a clear set of values that guide how we make decisions. We know what to say yes to and what to say no to. It is easy to bring someone onto the team because I know they are attracted to and embody our values, and consequently, are easy to trust.

Question Title

* 6. How do you feel about the financial health of your organization?

I frequently worry about our finances and what might happen if something unexpected happens. I usually feel like things are tight, but if I'm honest I don't have a clear understanding of our financial health. I feel in control of our finances. We have enough to fund the work we are currently doing. I feel like I have a general understanding of our financial health. Though I'm not sure we'd have enough financial margin that we would be able to take advantage of an unexpected opportunity, if it came up. I know exactly where we are financially. I have great systems in place to keep an eye on our current reality and have a good sense of what our cashflow will be over the next several months. We are financially very healthy.

Question Title

* 7. Do you have a clear understanding of your core metrics?

I feel sporadic when it comes to measuring the health of my organization. Most of the time I just go off my gut.  I wish I had a better, more specific way of tracking our health. I have a few numbers that I can look at to know how we are doing, but most of the time it requires that I dig much deeper to figure out what really needs my attention. If I'm honest, I really just watch the bank account to know if we are healthy or not. I have a clear scoreboard. I know which areas of our organization are heathy, which needs work, AND I have the numbers to prove it. Anyone on our team, can, at any moment, know if we are winning, loosing, or standing still.

Question Title

* 8. How is your family feeling?

My work is having a negative effect on my family and I'm worried about how much longer I can do this. My family avoids talking with me about my work and secretly wishes I would quit. They are only getting part of me. I wish I had more energy and could invest more time in my relationships with them. I feel pretty good about my relationship with my family. Most weeks, my work allows me to provide my family with the attention that they need.  When we experience conflict in my family we are usually able to resolve it in a healthy way. I love my work and I love my family. I couldn't ask for a better life. My family feels energized and is supportive of me.I have the ability to pour into them and their success. They feel like the get the best parts of me, not the leftovers.

Question Title

* 9. How is your personal rhythm?

My life is scattered. I'm not sure what to do when the day starts or ends. I have no idea how I'm wired and feel like I am just wandering through life. I am beginning to understand how I'm wired. It takes me a few weeks to realize that my tank is running dry but I am beginning to get a grasp on how to manage it. I know exactly how I'm wired and build my weeks around that wiring. I know what fills my tank and what empties it and I manage that well.
