Lumen COVID Input Survey 2021-2022

Hello Parents!

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Lumen Christi’s COVID protocols, based on local, state, federal and Archdiocesan guidance, have also reflected Catholic social teaching; the foundation of which is the moral obligation to protect and defend the most vulnerable in our community.  As a Catholic school, our protocols often have been a delicate balance between personal and collective sacrifice, freedom, and the care for others.  Our focus throughout has been to effectively prevent the spread of disease, to limit the risk to those most vulnerable, and to educate our children with as little interruption as possible.  To that end, your feedback is very important in our decision making. Your responses will help us continue to have the best plan possible for our community.  All responses are confidential, unless you request to be contacted at the end of the survey.

1.I support the current masking policy at Lumen (masks worn in classroom and the common areas, at Mass, and in large gatherings; masks not worn outside during breaks or while eating/drinking):
2.I support a mask optional policy at Lumen:
3.I have another suggestion about masking at school and it is...
4.Current state and federal protocols recommend that unvaccinated individuals who are identified as a close contact of a COVID-positive person should quarantine for 7 days (assuming a negative test between days 3-5).  Vaccinated individuals do not need to quarantine after exposure to close contact.  I support:
5.If Lumen Christi continues to keep its current quarantine policy, besides having teachers contact students within 24 hours and encouraging students to check in with teachers via office hours, what else can the school do to assist students and support families while in quarantine?
6.Many schools in the lower 48 have adopted a “Test to Stay” policy to reduce the number of students in quarantine.  Under these policies, all students (regardless of vaccination status) who are close contacts of a COVID-positive person are expected to take a rapid antigen test every morning for seven days.  These tests are provided to the family at no cost, can be conducted at home, and are “shallow swab” -- meaning the sample is taken inside the nostril, not deep in the sinus cavity.  Students can come to school each day as long as their daily test is negative.  I would support a “Test to Stay” policy in lieu of quarantining if implemented by Lumen:
7.I have another suggestion regarding quarantining and it is...
8.Please pick the statement which best represents your experience in voicing your opinion to Lumen Christi on matters relating to its COVID-19 policy? (Check all that apply)
9.Lumen Christi requires that parents volunteer a certain number of share hours each year.  How have any of Lumen’s COVID policies impacted your desire to volunteer?
10.Throughout the pandemic, Lumen has relied upon Catholic social teaching, guidance from state, federal, local, and Archdiocesan authorities, and local reportable data--primarily positivity and transmission rates--to guide its COVID protocols.  Moving forward, I think Lumen should:
