Long Island United Youth Football

Long Island United Youth Football

This survey is to gather information about how to best "Unite" and "Strengthen" youth football across Long Island.   Step 1 is creating a "coalition" of all organizations that would like to work together on this mission.

If need be, some members of the coalition are prepared to launch the Long Island United Youth Football League (LIUYFL) as a catalyst for that change.
1.Rate your organizations level of interest in "Uniting" and "Strengthening" Youth Football on Long Island
2.Would your organization like to be part of the "Long Island United Youth Football Coalition" - the coalition will work together to drive change for the Fall 2021 season
3.What is the likelihood that your organization would leave your current league and join a new "Long Island United Youth Football League" to get the changes you are looking for?
4.What "age groups" will your organization have in the Fall 2021 Football Season?  (Note - if you play double age groups, please select the older age group.  Example:  If your 11/12 year olds play together, please select 12 Year Old)
5.What is the Name of the Youth Football Organization you are representing?
6.What is your role in the Youth Football Organization you are representing?
7.Respondents Name (First & Last)
8.Respondent's Phone Number:
9.Respondent's email address:
10.What league does your Youth Football Organization Currently Play in?
11.Overall, how would you rate your satisfaction level with your existing league?
12.What are the TOP THREE things you LIKE about your current youth football league?
13.What are the TOP THREE things you would CHANGE in your current youth football league?
14.Age Cut-offs:
One area that we will need to see to compromise on in order to unite is Age Cut-offs.  Most youth football leagues across the nation (Pop Warner, AYF, UYFL, AAU, etc) use an August 1st cut-off date (players age as of 7/31).

Long Island United Proposal:
Adopt the 8/1 cut-off (players age as of 7/31)
Players can still play up one (1) year if they want to be with their grade.
Special consideration will be given for requests to play down based on “safety” concerns.
Some towns will choose to play double ages.
Players can play up one (1) year only. (particularly important for the first year of change as players with a new "league age" DO NOT have to go down to a new team.  They can stay with their existing teams and play up)

How likely would your organization be to play in a league with an 8/1 age cut-off?
15.Weight Limits:
Another area that we will need see to compromise on in order to unite is Weight limits.  Most youth football leagues across the nation (AYF, UYFL, AAU, etc) are moving to unlimited weights.

Long Island United Proposal:
Offer Unlimited and Weighted* Divisions
Unlimited Divisions:  Ages 12 & 13 (aligns with middle school)
Weighted* Divisions:  Ages 5 - 11
*NOTE ON WEIGHT LIMITS* - “Heavy” players CAN play, but NOT offensive skill positions.
“Heavy” players, like all players, can play up one (1) year if they really “must” touch the ball.
***Weight regulations of division and positional players will be voted on by towns each year for each age level. If there are enough teams, we could offer both weighted and unweighted divisions.

How likely is your organization to play in a league with the proposed weight limits?
