Project background

stone marker says "Block 14" with offerings of flowers and fruit surrounding it

Metro is working with community members to design and build a memorial in the area of Lone Fir Cemetery labeled “Block 14.” This area was used as the Chinese section of the cemetery during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Most of those bodies were disinterred and sent back to their home villages in China, in keeping with cultural practices.

Optional: Learn more about the project’s history on Metro's website.

In fall 2023, Metro reached out to community members for input on two design options, “The Hill” and “The Grove.” That feedback was relayed back to the design team, who used it to create a revised design proposal.

In this survey, we will be sharing what we heard from community members in the fall, as well as some new research findings that have changed our understanding of the site. Then we will share the revised design concept with you. After that, we will ask you a few questions about the revised design, as well as about the memorial’s future name.

Please take all the time you need for this survey. We anticipate that it should take about 10 minutes to complete. All questions are optional and your responses will be anonymous.
